HOW DOES SHOCKWAVE HELP?

Different schools of thoughts and literature have been published around how shockwave provides different benefits on musculoskeletal conditions some which are:

    • Promote proinflammatory and catabolic processes associated with the removal of damaged muscular matrix constituents
    • Repair processes promoted by extracorporeal shock waves have been attributed to tenocyte proliferation and collagen synthesis to help with tendon healing
    • Reactivate the healing process through microdisruption of avascular or minimally vascularized tissues such as calcified or injured soft tissue structures, resulting in neovascularization, improved blood supply, and stimulation of tissue regeneration
    • Pain relief has been attributed to a decrease in substance P release which is a contributing constituent to painful sensation and inflammation

What can you expect during your consultation?

An initial assessment of your musculoskeletal condition will be completed thoroughly by an experienced physiotherapist also trained in shockwave application.

Suitability of using shockwave for your condition, likely treatment outcome and mechanism of action will be explained to you before you could make an informed decision whether to choose the modality for your treatment purpose

Shockwave is a non-invasive form of treatment and with our state-of-the-art advanced shockwave device using latest electromagnetic technology and choice of treatment settings to allow us to work within your pain tolerance levels, will allow the treatment being delivered with minimal discomfort.

How many treatment sessions will I need?

This will depend on the nature of your musculoskeletal condition and your response to treatment with shockwave. This will be discussed with you in detail by your physiotherapist before and during your treatment sessions to achieve the best possible outcome for your condition.

Most clinical research suggest between 3-5 sessions depending on the condition you present with. At HS Health we offer affordable treatment rates for shockwave treatment if you choose tohave them in blocks of 3/5/7.
