Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be referred by a doctor for Physiotherapy treatment?

No, but if you are claiming on your medical insurance you need to contact them first as they may require a medical referral to process your insurance claim

How long are appointments?

Kindly refer to the “Book Appointment” section under individual services which gives you a detailed reference to how long each session is expected to last based on the treatment service you choose.

Can you see me straight away?

Yes, we can usually see you within 24 – 48 hours of you submitting your contact us form or booking through our website directly or booking by visiting us at one of our clinic locations.
Sometimes same-day appointments are available.
We also operate a cancellation list so you could be contacted sooner if an earlier appointment becomes available. Our friendly receptionists will arrange your appointment for you and answer any questions you may have.

Will I be given exercises?

Yes, we will always give advice on the management of conditions and appropriate exercises to do in between treatments to optimise the recovery process. Tailor made exercise sheets are also given for you to take home.

I have Private Medical Insurance – am I covered with you?

Yes, we are recognised by all the major insurance companies, as we are all Chartered & State Registered Physiotherapists. You will need to check with your insurance company prior to treatment, as some companies require a referral from a GP beforehand.

May I know your payment terms?

Yes, payments are taken in advance through a secure payment processing method on our website. If you wish to walk in at our clinic and ask for the payment to be made either by cheque or cash or card that is possible too. We accept all credit and debit cards. Receipts are available for health insurance companies.

Do you know how many treatments I will need?

Yes, although we do not have a set number of treatments for any condition as each condition is different and predisposes in a different manner in each individual and therefore needs to be dealt with individually. However, following your first appointment the Physiotherapist/ sports therapist/ acupuncturist/ injection therapist will discuss the anticipated number of treatments.

Will I always see the same Physiotherapist?

Yes, we are sure that you would prefer to be seen by the same Physiotherapist during your series of treatments and we will be able to ensure that is made possible for you.

What conditions does your service provide treatment options for?

We are predominantly musculoskeletal clinicians providing treatment options for your joint/ soft tissue/ nerve related pains. However, neurological conditions might have associated musculoskeletal problems that we are able to assess, advise and manage. Please speak to our clinicians and they’ll be more than happy to assist you with your queries.

Do you have provisions for Home Visit?

Yes, sometimes it is necessary to visit patients at home but this is usually only required after surgery or if a patient is housebound and unable to travel. The cost of a Home Visit has to include travel time from the clinician and so this does increase the cost of treatment. Please contact us for more details through our website/ call us on 03330147700, 01775562762 or email us on contact@hshealthgroup.co.uk

How do I know if a Physiotherapist is fully qualified?

The title of Physiotherapist is now protected and can only be used by those registered with the Health Professions Council. They will have MCSP after their name which stands for Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.

What do I need to wear?

The Physiotherapist will need to see the affected area so you may need to undress but this will be your choice and your consent will be seeked when asking you to do so. You may request for a chaperone to be present during the session.

Do you provide discharge summary or summary of treatment provided?

Yes, it is your right to be able to ask for your treatment and discharge report. We also provide recommendation or advice on further imaging or referral that you can share with your GP for their review and action.
